The Vichitra Veena is usually tuned at Concert G or A. The string gauges depend on the desired pitch. The diagram and string gauges below are for the key of Concert A.  The single DOT below a note means that note sounds in the octave below the Mid-SA as sounded by the #6 String. Two DOTS below a note means that it will sound in the second octave below the #6 String.  A DOT above the note means it sounds a full octave or more higher than the #6 String.
