Sitar Fret Tying Instructions
Fig # 1:
Cut a 4 foot (1.25 meter) long piece of fret tying string. Steady the fret in position,
and place the right hand 3' 6" long tail into the slot on the near
side end of the fret. Place it over the top of the loop in the left hand
6" long tail. Place your left thumb on top of the loop to stop it
slipping..
Fig # 2: Take the right hand tail under the neck, stretch it, and
place it into the far side fret slot. Hold it in place with the middle
finger of your left hand. Bring the tail back, stretch it, and place it
into the near side fret slot.
Fig # 3: Take the right hand tail under the neck, stretch it, and
place it into the far side fret slot. Bring the tail back, and and take
it under the arch of the fret. (not in the slot)
Fig # 4: While holding all the strands under the thumb of your
left hand, poke the right hand tail through the loop of the left hand
tail.
Fig # 5: Pull up on the right hand tail, and down on the left
hand tail. Feel the right hand tail click as it is tugged under the near
side foot of the fret.

the knot. (Don't get any glue on the sitar neck).
